Mary’s Story

“One day I was waiting for my train at Metro Politechnika station, Warsaw, I noticed a blind girl standing very close to the edge. As I was walking up I saw two guys had beaten me to the punch, their names were Patryk and Marcin. I watched them help the girl get on a train, asking people to give up a seating space for her (not to mention in rush hour when it’s nearly impossible). They both guarded her and go with her all the way to Wawrzyszew, which is basically the other side of the Warsaw just to help her get home safely. As it was also my station, I started chatting to them. This is when I heard the very heartbreaking and moving story of their struggles as homeless people. On top of their many experiences they have; empty bellies, holes in their shoes and are always freezing because they live on a street. They refuse to sleep in the shelters because they are constantly being robbed and also the places are full of lice. Marcin used to work at the hospice, Patryk is disabled so he understands better than anyone when other people need help. Now lets help them! We are looking for warm clothes, anything really; jumpers, coats, joggers (size L and XL) and shoes – size 43. Dear Facebook, have mercy, help!” – Maria 08.11.2016

“I met Partyk and Marcin today. Boys are ready to start a process out getting out of the street, find a job, and move into even the smallest apartment in the city. The both are willing to stop drinking and start living. Both Patrick and Marcin are extremely grateful for all the help you gave them, good people! We are scheduled for our next meeting to talk about jobs and apartment propositions that came from you. Thank you very much, you guys are the best!
