How do I begin… visiting Nicaragua was probably the most spontaneous decision we have made this year. Most of our decisions are ridiculous anyway but I think in this case we outdid ourselves. After a solid 12 months of building a Gute-Nica team most of our paths are now drifting apart. Gabriel – who is basically our Don Corleone – has guided us from day 1 and put in-front of us a task we couldn’t refuse. He called us is the middle of the night and used our unconscious minds to agree to go on a mission to Nicaragua and spend the ultimate weekend and celebrate all the successes and loses that were a part of the last 12 months. He wouldn’t take no for an answer, so we had 24 hours to;

a) figure the way how to get to Nicaragua

b) find a super soul who will take care of our dog

c) organise the location well enough so when we get back we wouldn’t see it burnt to ashes

No pressure, we are the masters of possimpeble (for details ask Barney Stinson ), in under 24 hours we had everything sorted. Now here comes the ride, since we were driving friends car it made us believe everything would go smoothly…we were naive, it wasn’t; 18 hours, 3 border crossings and million frustrations on the way. Thank god our friend tagged along because there was no way I would be driving on those dodgy roads without any street lights on.

Our fav border was the last one entering to Nicaragua, 2 hour investigation because of my own stupidity, I stated my profession was a photographer and considering what’s going on in the country they kindly provided me with a 2 hour investigation. Never mind. They finally let us go and we reached our final destination! Only to find out that there was already a party waiting for us haha. We couldn’t be surprised, it was inevitable. Every one was just glad we made it there with no harm.

The next day was a real dream come true, all day blue skies (the weather we constantly miss in Antigua) and enjoying sweet moments on a boat. I don’t think any of us mentioned work for more than for 2 mins which was extremely refreshing. Like we were just meant to be there and forget about everything for 12 hours. Paradise.

We continued the fun until stupid o’clock and even though every one was knackered we pushed through. These moments don’t come around too often in life… so take them, be a yes man instead of counting the risks and then you can live your life to the fullest. Money comes and goes but…..tadammmm cheesy line alert: friendship lasts forever. And in the end no man is an island.

Much love, and we will see you all soon <3

PS. Nicaragua is perfectly save to visit, do not believe fake news, just go and see for yourself…just maybe not drive from Guatemala 🙂

PS 2; Visit Playa Maderas, you will meet the kindest most helpful people you can count on.
